Rebekah Gould was murdered inside her boyfriend’s home in 2004 but, despite information that could have led authorities to the killer in the days following her death, her case went unsolved for over 16 years.
Sensing an opportunity for justice, investigative journalist George Jared teamed up with Former U.S. Army Counterintelligence Agent-turned-private investigator Jennifer Bucholtz in an effort to find Rebekah’s killer. Over the course of the next two years the duo reignited the investigation utilizing media and crowd-sourcing techniques. The heightened public awareness helped pressure law enforcement into assigning a new investigator to Rebekah’s case.
An arrest was made just months later.
n this session, Bucholtz and Jared will discuss the pitfalls of confirmation bias, the benefits of utilizing a wide variety of resources to solve cold cases, and their incredible direct communications with the man who was ultimately arrested for the murder.
